Welcome to our brand new Gallery
Hillier and Skuse Gallery, run by Gold Coast artists, Stephen Hillier and Susan Skuse, is opening its doors to the public this week. The spacious, modern gallery at 88 Bundall Road is in the heart of the developing Gold Coast Cultural Precinct, just a stone’s throw from the Gold Coast Evandale Arts Centre, and surrounded by the premium furnishing and home improvement retailers.
The Gallery’s versatile exhibition space provides the perfect venue for solo and group exhibitions by talented regional artists, as well as special events and social functions. We look forward to working with committed creative people to help develop and generate interest in their artistic careers. We value creativity, but we also value skill and a professional approach to art-making.
Susan Skuse and Steve Hillier both hold Diploma of Arts qualifications and have extensive business experience in a range of fields from tourism and entertainment to the legal profession. They have been active participants in the local art world for a number of years and just this year alone their Artist Cvs include selections as finalists in the Holmes Art Prize, Brisbane Rotary Arts Prize, the Lethbridge 10,000, Musswellbrook Art Prize, Moreton Bay Art Prize and winning the Ipswich Art Prize (judged by Ben Quilty). They aim to apply their collective experience to providing a venue for both two and three dimensional art that is curated by artists for art-lovers.
We are very excited about the range of high quality work already lined up to show in the gallery. Our series of featured artist shows will kick off in September with Chris Seale and Mark Pryer; two artists who take very different approaches to painting the regional landscape. Check out the Upcoming Exhibitions page for more details.
We invite you to call in and browse our varied and changing collection of artworks, including contemporary and traditional styles of paintings, drawings and three dimensional work.
