Just as the cover art of a book may entice you to read it, a movie poster may entice you to watch a movie.  Before the advent to today’s technology, movie posters were very much an art form in their own right.  Movie posters are a powerful visual tool, promoting a film’s theme and narrative.

The Exhibition, ‘Cinefiend’ pays homage to this special genre of art, with an emphasis on B-movies, noir and cult.   The exhibition comprises approximately 60 works of art, each individually hand-painted in movie poster size and format on archival 300 gsm water-colour paper.

The exhibition will also feature a video presentation of cult and B-movie trailers presented by Andrew Leavold, director of films “The search for Weng Weng” and “The Last Pinoy Action King”.

Each Friday in April, commencing on the 8th April, Hillier and Skuse Gallery will present a free movie screening of a cult movie classic.  BYO cushions and refreshments.  The show will start at 7pm.  Here are some samples of the wonderful work created by Eva and Jesse Breckon and Kyan Rain De Vere.
