If you assume the opposites, light and dark, and good and evil, are just different ends of the same stick, and in the case of good and evil, merely human determinations, then in our physical universe there can never be an ultimate obliteration of one over the other. Another euphemistic painting that owes a lot to Jack Vettriano’s famous painting “The Singing Butler”. It won the top award in a major local art prize judged by Ben Quilty, a notable Australian artist and winner of the 2009 Moran Prize and the 2011 Archibald Prize (I’ll put the trumpet down now).
