ABOUT THIS ARTWORK
Artworks, generally, can be pigeonholed into an ever-increasing list of genres, pin-up (and its variants) being one. People interested in the art world tend to have their favourite artist/s within each genre. For me, within the pin-up universe, Gil Elvgren (1914–1980) and, in more contemporary times, Hajime Sorayama are mine. This painting is my humble homage to these masters, whose artistic skills and mastery
of technique and respective styles are well known.

For me, their images, sometimes tongue-in-cheek and at times explicit and erotic, show both respect for the subject portrayed in their paintings and the process of making an artwork. To me, their work depicts a woman (mostly) who is fully aware of her sexuality and the impact it can have, and who is confident and fully compliant in any reciprocal pleasure found within the image’s story. In my painting, I have attempted to also meet these criteria and suggest an element of humour in the double-entendre of the title, although being of UK stock, it had to be a Jaguar rather than a Cougar (Ford).
