ABOUT THIS ARTWORK
The quest with this work was to try to materialise and fix that moment that we reference as “timeless beauty”. The broken clock and circular pattern symbolism refer to being “timeless” and “endless”. We all, because we are independent individuals, build our own concepts about what constitutes beauty. I could have painted any one of the vast arrays of subjects that make up this planet we live on—a rose, a bird of paradise, etc.

However, I consider myself primarily a figurative artist and a male. Whatever the subject, though, given the laws of nature, everyone and everything is subjected to the effects of time on our physicality, and perfection is just a passing moment in time. It’s interesting to consider that, as our technology advances, capturing a moment in time in any of the numbers of formats available to us and enduringly retaining them creates a situation that is virtually free from the effects of time. Even if the original creator doesn’t survive.
