ABOUT THIS ARTWORK
A couple of young bee-eaters sit in a flowering Bombax tree (Bombax Ceiba) waiting for Uber to deliver lunch… sorry, their parents. A relatively simple composition, but I really liked the idea of the colour combinations. Bee-eaters and Bombax are both native to Australia; although the situation is contrived, it could possibly occur. Having spent millions of years evolving, the natural world presents, both in its simplicity and complexity, a beauty far beyond the replication capabilities of my artistic skills, but it’s a worthwhile challenge to try. A sad thought that, through our human actions, we stand a pretty good chance of destroying much of it.
