ABOUT THIS ARTWORK
There are different ways I can describe how I work and what I am trying to achieve, but really it comes down to putting together all the things that I love — nature, colour, pattern, multiple layers, Asian influence, realistic painting, and especially our spectacular Australian birds. This painting is part of a series of smaller works I am currently making called ‘Feathery All-sorts’, emphasising the striking colours of our native Australian birds.  I have used a simplified version of my multi-layered stenciled backgrounds and focused on a single bird. The subject here is the Azure Kingfisher. The work is painted on a coffered timber panel, painted black around the edge, and is ready to hang.
